Even if there's some games within this article that you haven't heard of, I guaruntee you that all of them are worth your time and money.

 

11) The Surge 2 (PS4/Xbox One/PC)

Stuck in the outskirts of Jericho City as the survivor of a plane crash, You’re left to fight armor-clad soldiers and killer roberts and survive the expanding nano-storm. You have an expanded choice of weapons, armor, abilities, and augments to upgrade your character for battle. And whatever choices you make, be sure to fully equip yourself for your ferocious foes on the road ahead.

With many of the Surge 2’s big changes, comes its character creation system. Whereas you would have to play as Warren in The Surge 1, you can make your own protagonist here. If you want, you can make this game’s hero something of your own image.

The Surge 2 is jam-packed with loads of more unique weapons and gadgets, allowing you more freedom to play how you want. Chop away at your enemies, or smash their heads into the ground with the many heavy blunts. The choice is all yours.

In the year 2052, the world is a scary and chaotic place. Terrorists run rampant and compete with pollution as both decimate society. And as the gap between the poor and rich gets wider and wider, hope looks to be lost. But, as a secret order decides to try to take over, someone emerges to stop them. And that someone must be you.

Deus Ex: GOTY Edition features human enemies, as opposed to monsters or aliens. This was intended to give players a realistic experience. And also to help them empathize with the characters.

You don’t have to solve every problem with guns and gore. You can either talk, fight or use skills to get through obstacles in this immersive world. your playthrough, your choice.

 

9) Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (PS4/ Xbox One/ PC)

23 years before the events of the first game, the world ofMankind Divided is split in two. The augmented humans are segregated and casted apart from regular society, and are also often terrorized by them. You play as experienced operative, Adam Jenson, forced to function in an environment where he’s hated by the same ones he has to protect. And, if that wasn’t enough, he’s tasked to uncover a world-wide conspiracy, while trying to navigate a hateful and untrust-worthy society.

As an augmented human, Adam comes equipped with grade-A tech and gadgets. Mankind Divided offers lots of customization to take your enemies down any you want.

Staying consistent with its immersive roleplaying format, you’re still given to go about each situation differently. You can hack, talk or shoot your way through to the end of the game; the choice is ultimately yours.

 

8) Shadowrun: Hong Kong (PC)

Similar to the XCOM series, Shadowrun: Hong Kong is a turn-based, strategic cRPG, created by Harebrained Schemes and Paradox interactive. In a world of chaos, war and political conflict, resides Hong Kong, one of the most successful areas of business in the Sixth World, and home to a very dangerous sprawl site. Form your team, and conquer this land, and seize all the goods you want; and all the cash to buy it.

In this dystopian world, tech meets magic. If ever you get tired of being a cyber-ninja, you can switch out for shamans to use spells and fireballs to eliminate your opponents.

Shadowrun: Hong Kong features 15+ hours of campaign, with a cast of immersive human-like characters, each with their own development.

 

7) System Shock 2 (PC/ Dreamcast)

If you aren’t already familiar with this cult-classic cyberpunk sci-fi horror FPS-RPG, let me introduce you. In System Shock 2, you wake up from your cryo-tube to discover you’ve been given cybernetic implants and your entire crew has been slaughtered. As you work your way fighting infected, murderous psychos to uncover the mystery of what happened, you’ll find that you’re constantly being taunted by an A.I known as SHODAN. And, no matter what SHODAN throws at you, you must uncover the truth.

System Shock 2 lives up to its promise of “role-playing”. Utilize one of the 3 classes you can choose from, and take advantage of the unique skills, powers and weapons. You can even loot from the bodies of the psychos you just murdered.

Live in a nightmare as you navigate the ship and fight for your life. With many game-of-the-year awards under its belt, System Shock 2 is a survival horror game you don’t wanna miss.

6) Dex (PS4/ Xbox One/ PC/ Linux)

Since there’s a chance you haven’t heard of it, Dex is a cyberpunk RPG side-scroller, with an open world and nonlinear gameplay. You play as a fugitive with a price on your head from an unknown organization. On your quest to bring them down, you will venture through the futuristic city of Harbor Prime, and make valuable allies along the way. And Talk, hack and fight your way to the end goal.

In traditional cyberpunk fashion, Dex allows you to explore numerous augments, weapons and powers to over-power your enemies. Hacking is also in the forefront of gameplay. Using the Cyberspace, you can fight viruses, disable turrets and much more.

Harbor Prime’s cyberpunk aesthetic is truly breathtaking. Venturing through the city is just as amazing as Dex’s combat, thanks to the stunning backdrops.

 

5) Shadowrun Returns (Android/ IOS/ PC)

Shadowrun returns on this list with, well, Shadowrun Returns! And sticking with its “Tech meets magic” formula, you’ll encounter dwarves with cyber augments and elves as street samurai. You remain a Shadoweunner, working in the shadows of massive corpos, and taking jobs from anyone who needs one done. Always make sure your strategy is ahead of those who want you dead, because the risks are high in this turn-based cRPG.

Shadowrun Returns sustains the action and the range of uniqueness for their characters. Whether you prefer tech of spells, or magic over modifications, you’ll have fun and full choice, on both sides

Plan every move you make ahead, because it may be your last. With the combat system of Shadowrun Returns, you can get into cover, plan traps, as well as other ways of creatively taking out your opponents.

 

4) UnderRail (PC)

With UnderRail’s extensive customization, you have the power to carve your character into the best fit for your playstyle. However, be sure to make your build as adaptive as possible for the treacherous road ahead.

 

3) Neo Cab (PC/ Nintendo Switch)

You are Lina, the last human cab driver in the neon streets of Los Ojos. Your friend went missing while night driving, so your job is to drive people around and get as much information as possible to find out what happened to her. Each person you pick up has their own stories and secrets to share. And if you know just exactly what they want to hear, you’ll get all the leads they have to offer to help you find your friend. But, since this is a survival game, there’s a lot more on the line for you than just answers.

Just as it’s important to keep track of your passenger’s mood, your emotional stability could also be detrimental to the plan. Get as much info as you can, and make your clients feel good. But don’t be so quick to compromise yourself too much, in the process.

Just as your mission is dependent on your client’s satisfaction, so is your success as a driver. As you navigate Los Ojos, do your best to balance each of your responsibilities. The better you do that, the more overall success you’ll have.

 

2) Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 (PS4/ Xbox One/ PC)

How’s about time we take a look at a couple of upcoming, highly anticipated RPGs, for our last 2 entries on this list? And coming at number 2 shall be Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. In the game, your very being spings about a war in Seattle’s blood trade. In order to survive, you’ll have to make bizarre allies and uncover the truth behind the conspiracy of what started the civil war of the vampire factions in the first place. As well as feeding and becoming stronger as a vampire.

With its fast-paced melee focused combat system, comes the wide-range of opportunity for you to adapt to it. The more you progress, the stronger you’ll get.

It’s worth noting that this game is called “The Masquerade” for a reason. Sure, becoming strong as a vampire is important, but so is concealing it. The better you are at that, the smoother things will be. But if you fail, you’ll have many consequences to face.

 

Cyberpunk 2077 (PS4/ Xbox One/ PC)

This may well be one of the most anticipated games of 2020. Created by CD Project Red, Cyberpunk 2077 takes place in a futuristic dystopian place called Night City. You are V, a newcomer mercenary, looking to make a name for themselves. You’ll make allies and do deals with numerous gangs and corporate figures, earn cash to upgrade your augments or install new ones, and hack, shoot or rip your way through your enemies. With a fluid skill tree of 3 main branches, that you aren’t at all bound to, you can create a playthrough unlike anyone else’s.

One of the classes you’ll have the opportunity as is the Solo class. This class makes you an ultimate cyber-warrior, allowing you to pull off high-strength feats, such as ripping guns off of turrets, using enemies as meat-shields, and enduring much more damage from your foes.

Your reputation in Night City matters to a lot of people, and it will be your key into many opportunities. Your backstory aids you in whomever you choose to hang with as well, but that’s just surface level. It takes work in the field to build a tower of success. So, be prepared for overtime.
