One of the most well established fears is the fear of the open ocean. Which is understandable, but when you throw hungry dinosaurs into the mix, it becomes something of a waking nightmare. Which is why you never want to wade into the depths alone. With that said, I’m Chas Conway, and this is the Top 5 Best Water Tames in Ark: Survival Evolved

5) Carbonemys

Starting off our list is possibly one of your earlier tames of this game; the Carbonemys. This big old turtle is all over the beach areas that are near common starting areas. These passive herbivores are slow, and easy to either kill or knockout for taming, but once they’re yours, they have such great qualities for new players to use to make their survival a bit easier:

• They’re walking damage soakers, so, if you level them up enough, don’t be afraid to send them into battle. They can take the hits you might be scared to
• They can swim just as well as they walk on land, so feel free to take a dip with your new turtle to find some underwater treasure

4) Castoroides

These beavers mostly spend their time swimming around or making their own dams in or around a water source, usually a river or lake. Now they won’t attack players unless you start messing with their dams, which makes sense, cause I’m sure anyone would start a fight if a stranger came into where you live and started messing around. To tame a Castoroides, simply get them on land, since they’re slower on land, and knock them out. It would be even better if you trap them with bolas or use a taming pen to trap them in. Once they’re yours, here’s everything this moving carpenter can provide for your survival;

• They can gather all sorts of materials, like wood, thatch, and even stone on your travels, and these resources even weigh less when carried by a Castoroides
• Their saddles carry a portable smithy for crafting items on the go!
• They’re insanely fast in water, more than they are on land, so traversing through the island will be a lot simpler with a Castoroides by your side!

  3)Ichthyosaurus

These dolphin like creatures are probably one of the easiest to tame on this list. These cuddly creatures will swim up to players, not to attack, but in the hopes that you might feed them. Once you feed them a few fish, these little rascals, they will help you fulfill your childish dream at Seaworld of riding a dolphin;

• They’re insanely fast due to how small they are. You’ll be darting through the water like it’s nothing
• Most predators will ignore the Ichthyosaurus, seeing as it’s not much of a threat. Just don’t get too close or attack, and they’ll leave you alone

2) Kaprosuchus

This mixture of a wolf and crocodile wanders the swamp lands, looking to pounce and ambush any unsuspecting player. And like most wolves, these things are useful in a pack. It would be wise to tame these things one at a time, using the old reliable technique of knocking it unconscious. That’s how you make all your friends, right?

• These crocodilian jumpers are quite good at taking on lower level players and dinos with ease. Definitely an advantage when dealing with levels lower than your own
• While exploring the caves, the Kaprosuchus is a must spelunking companion, able to take on any creature you encounter inside
• Their pounce attack makes for one amazing jump, making traveling easier

1) Sarcosuchus

And finishing our list is the one crocodile that would give the late and great Steve Irwin pause when approaching. The Sarcosuchus, or Sarco, usually hangs out in the coastal beaches near the ends of islands, or near a large body of water. These big guys are dangerous, not just because of the damage they can do, but the fact that they can do the killing move all crocodiles know, and grab players by their jaws underwater, and thrash them around, forcing them to lose oxygen. If you manage to knock one of them out, and tame them, here’s everything they can do to ensure your survival;

• Great on land as they are in water, so don’t be afraid to go offroading

• They can dive into great depths, so have fun exploring the darkness of the sea! It’s not at all as terrifying as it sounds

• Even better as pack hunters. Having more than one will definitely come in handy down the line
