10. Hide Gear


The Hide Gear always has your back 

The Hide Armor is probably going to be your first Ark armor that will truly give you some protection against both damage and cold. While it’s not a good idea to wear in a hot environment, this gear does its job while exploring snowy areas and having your first hunts. Each piece provides 20 armor, with 100 for a full set.

Why is Hide Armor great: 

  • 85 protection against cold
  • 10.5 weight, will not slow you down while running
  • Grants passable damage reduction 
  • 45 durability

How to get the Hide Armor: 

  • Reach level 15
  • Easy to craft and repair in Inventory 
  • Use hide and fiber for crafting different pieces. The shirt requires 20 ×  Hide and 8 ×  Fiber, while the pants require 25 ×  Hide, 10 ×  Fiber
  • Can be found in Green Supply Crate

9. Fur Gear

Keep yourself warm with the Fur Gear

As long as it stays dry, this armor is your best friend in cold areas of the map. You’ll feel as comfortable in the snow as a polar bear. Moreover, it will help you integrate into the snowy background. Each piece provides 40 armor, with a total of 200 armor for the whole equipment.

  • Reach level 23 
  • Can be crafted in the Smithy, Argentavis Saddle, Castoroides Saddle, Thorny Dragon Saddle, Tek Replicator
  • Craft a Refining Forge 
  • It requires Pelt, Hair, or Wool, Metal Ingot or Scrap Metal Ingot, Hide, and Fiber 
  • Multiple pieces can be crafted. For example, the Chestpiece requires 80 ×  Pelt, Hair, or Wool, 13 ×  Metal Ingot or Scrap Metal Ingot, 10 ×  Hide, 4 ×  Fiber

  • Offers both cold and heat protection, so it can be used at any temperature without disadvantages

How to get the Desert Cloth Gear:

  • Reach level 28
  • Found in Green Supply Crate
  • Can be crafted in the Smithy, Argentavis Saddle, Castoroides Saddle, Thorny Dragon Saddle, Tek Replicator
  • The hat and googles require 10 × Hide, 6 × Fiber, 3 × Silica Pearls or Silicate, 10 × Crystal or Primal Crystal, 3 × Silk (Scorched Earth)
  • For the other pieces, you only need hide, fiber and silk

7. Ghillie Gear

Take camouflaging to the next level: the Ghillie Gear

What sets apart this armor from the rest is the fact that it provides you the opportunity to camouflage and avoid predators or take your enemies by surprise. It also comes with both cold and heat protection and it prevents you from taking too much damage. Each piece provides 32 armor, so a full set means 160 armor.

  • Provides moderate physical protection
  • The organic polymer keeps you cold in hot weather, with 155 heat protection

The great part about the Chitin Armor is that it offers total protection of 250, each piece providing 50 armor. While it’s not the best at protecting against heat, it can keep you warm in cold wheater, as long as you are not adventuring in an Ice Cave. Durable and strong, it offers much-needed physical protection in battles.

  • Mildly protects against cold with a 43 rating
