Jack is the sole survivor of a plane crash in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. What would mean certain death is turned around into an adventure of both survival and curiosity, as Jack discovers Rapture, an underwater city constructed by business magnate Andrew Ryan, on objectivist principles. However, the city that was once meant to be a utopia of freedom has collapsed in a ruin roamed by the denizens of Rapture - now addicted to ADAM, a chemical that alters the DNA to give its user superhuman powers.

BioShock sets players loose in a fully original, underwater city as they fight off Splicers and explore the city to find out what brought about its ruin - and how to escape from it.

Warning: Spoilers Bioshock (on Xbox 360) is without a doubt one of the best video games of all time! Whether it be the mind blowing graphics, the incredible storyline, the intuitive AI or the very user friendly controls BioShock excels in every way! From the moment you load the opening scene to the Very last frame you will ooh and ah & OMG Constantly! This game should be experienced by Every gamer! Period! Regardless of personal preferences, Your only regret would be not playing this title. Rapture is one of the most beautiful environments I have ever seen rendered in a VG. The characters; Big Daddies, Little Sisters, Splicers absolutely fantastic! The achievement points are well structured and evenly dispersed. There are far too many gamers that may automatically pass up on this title for its lack of a MP component but they will be missing out on something truly wonderful! BioShock is more than deserving of its GOTY awards by Most critics, gamers & Pubs!! I personally can't wait to see if there will be a sequel!!

It was OK far as games in this genre go. I definitely liked it more than the games which compete with it in its field.

Arguably, the best in the series, I cannot stress how this game made me feel worried to turn around thanks to the splendid scenery by the studio and the twist at the end is basically unparelled in the franchise..

This game is arguably art. The setting and gameplay is so unique you will not find it anywhere else. The dark apocalyptic underwater city of Rapture has a very engaging and intimidating environment. Top that of with a mysterious, well thought and implemented storyline, and you have yourselves a must play game.

This right here should be a genre in its own right. Impossible to compare to any other. The story itself deserves a separate appreciation. Perfect character design as well as environmental interactions. You can say this is an FPS and maybe some people don't like FPS games ( like me for example ) but Bioshock is totally worth it. I personally played it for the story and did not regret it for one second. If there are a few games which i can call legendary this is surely one of them.

One word: masterpiece. Bioshock seamlessly weaves together one of the eeriest atmospheres in gaming history (Rapture, the sea-sunken industrial paradise) with a thought-provoking plot and memorable characters. Add drug-addled lunatic for enemies and a twist that will blow you away, and you have a recipe for my favorite game of all time. If for any reason you haven't played this game, do yourself the favor of a lifetime and buy it now.

I will admit, the first time I played this, a sound of a weeping girl scared me that I had to close it. BioShock is just really good at suspending your judgment. You can never go wrong with a game that draws you in and makes you feel trapped yourself.

FPS are not my cup of tea, but Bioshock is the exception. The world and environment are creepy and anxiety inducing; the gameplay matches the tone perfectly. Bioshock set a strong expectation for its successors. (Currently Amazon has the 3 pack for under $15, an absolute steal.)

The first time I played this game I had to set it down, scared the life out of me. Which isn't something your typical RPG/FPS does, but Irrational games did it well. You start scared, weak, and abysmal compared to the creatures you see in the deep. But as time goes on you grow stronger, you get over those fears, and you get pulled into a truly enjoyable if not frightening experience. The gameplay is superb and totally worth picking up even several years after its release.

Bioshock is so much more than your typical first person shooter. The gameplay is fast paced, creepy, and purely entertaining. What makes this game so compelling, though, is its story telling abilities. Without long and intricate cut scenes other games may use a a storytelling crutch, Bioshock gives a well rounded view of the world its set in, Rapture. I highly recommend giving this game a try even if you don't usually play FPS, as it truly transcends genres.

Taking jump scares out of the equation, I found Bioshock to be EPIC at creating a spine tingling, chill inducing, heavy on the creepy factor ride. Equal parts slow and fast paced first person adrenal gland secreting fun. Underwater fear coupled with the mystery surrounding nearly every mission, this game is a quick favorite for those who enjoy the aforementioned components of the game.
