1. Bethesda Game Studios emerged as a video game developer in 2001

Bethesda Game Studios was established in 2001 as an in-house developer for its publisher Bethesda Softworks, which in turn, is a subsidiary of ZeniMax Media.

In 2002, Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks became separated, with all of the developers moving to Bethesda Game Studios.

With the release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Bethesda Softworks began regularly publishing all of Bethesda Game Studios’ games.

2. The company was started by Christopher Weaver

Christopher Weaver eventually left ZeniMax Media and became an educator at MIT.

Robert A. Altman became co-founder of ZeniMax Media in 1999, along with Christopher Weaver.

Ever since, he has acted as Chairman And CEO of ZeniMax Media, parent company of publisher Bethesda Softworks and developer Bethesda Game Studios.
