The Pokémon Company Requests Shutdown of Minecraft Pokémon Mod

Popular Minecraft mod is shut down after official launch
The popular Minecraft mod Pixelmon has officially shut down following a request by the Pokémon company

“With much sadness, but keeping all our fond memories, we must announce that Pixelmon is ending its development.” the Pixelmon team wrote. “We have had a great time making this mod and creating such a wonderful community but after a request from the Pokémon company we will be shutting our doors. “

For years the Minecraft mod for Pokémon, called “Pixelmon”, has been in beta. Over the years it has become increasingly popular, and recently the creators decided to officially release it. Until recently, The Pokémon Company hadn’t paid much attention to it, but since the official release they have requested for the mod to be shutdown.

The mod was complex, incorporating hundreds of Pokémon into the minecraft world, which included hundreds of attacks, status effects, and stats modifiers. It inspired many Pokémon-centered servers, and Youtube walkthroughs of it were not uncommon. In short, the minecraft Pokémon community will be sad to see it go.

For now, fortunately, there are still playable versions out there, but as time goes on eventually minecraft will grow out of those older versions and they will become obsolete.
