Recently Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released a new trailer during San Diego’s Comic-Con for Monolith’s new upcoming action role-playing game Middle-earth: Shadow of War that focused more towards the well known spider, Shelob.

Fans of the Lord of the Rings series got to see a totally different unseen look for Shelob as she appears mostly in human form during the trailer - during Lord of the Rings Shelob only appeared as a spider so this is something new. Shelob seems to be giving Talion visions of the future while Celebrimbor believes she is not to be trusted.

Shelob is voiced by the 38 year old Scottish born actress, writer and director, Pollyanna McIntosh. During an interview at San Diego Comic-Con she said Warner Bros had used motion capture on her which helped style and create the character's human form you see in the trailer. You may recognize Pollyanna from the movie Exam (2009) or as Jadis from The Walking Dead which was one of her most recent roles.

Pollyanna McIntosh spent most of her childhood in Portugal and Colombia but was born in Dunbartonshire, Scotland. She later moved from abroad back to her homeland where she began performing on stage at The Edinburgh Festival. At 16 she then traveled to London and eventually became involved in indie film-making and theatre which helped further her career to becoming a well known actress and director.

When asked in a San Diego Comic-Con interview (which she posted on her twitter page) how do you get into the mind space of a giant Spider, she replied “she’s got a lot of darkness about her but she’s also a sage, she creates the balance of middle-earth in the game” and then went on to say “it’s just getting into a really dark mindset of being abandoned by her partner from years ago and basically living in misery for centuries so I just got really dark and thought about all my exes and what I’d like to do to them.”
