39. Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward

Heavensward begins the story from the tortures of treason. Travel to the beautiful city-state of Ishgard as a refugee to remove your name from crime and bring back peace to the lands whilst helping out a new country with its own troubles. It may seem like a lovely place on the surface, but, there is still a few echoing of disloyalty boiling just below the surface.

This is an expansion pack to the fantasy MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. The expansion includes new areas which have islands floating in the sky and zones of snowy mountains. To help the player navigate these areas, flying mounts have been added into the game giving you the ability to fly in a zone like it’s a nice new mini-game. Three new jobs have also been added: Dark Knight, Machinist and Astrologian.

Now you can fly to the skies with the newly added flying mounts.

A new playable race called the Au Ra has also been added. The new race lets you play as massive men or small yet ferocious females. Old classes have also gotten a few changes.

New dungeons have lots of variety and some difficulty to stop the boredom of grinding. You can almost solo the entire expansion with the exception of some dungeons and bosses.

Heavensward is a great expansion pack that brings a whopping nine new areas, a story that can top the main game one and three new jobs to mess around with. This is an expansion packed with content and is sure to keep you playing for a long time.

40. SMITE

SMITE is a free-to-play third-person MOBA that lets players play as gods from ancient mythology. Get in the arena with your powers and fight.

Developed and published by Hi-Rez Studios, Smite includes a few game modes with Conquest being the biggest. Two teams of five players each begin at opposite sides of the map at their team’s Titan. You start with some amount of gold which you can use to buy starting items that grant you bonuses or abilities.

Choose which god you want to play as and destroy the opposing Phoenixes and the main objective, the Titan, which is a giant champion that can fight back. Gods have the regular attack and four abilities that can do: crowd control, area of effect damage, give buffs and so on.

What makes Smite unique from other MOBAs is that you play the game in third-person instead of the usual top-down view. There are 78 mythological gods you can choose from, such as gods like Zeus who can throw lightning at his enemy’s face.

There is a free weekly rotation of 10 gods, giving new players a nice amount of variety, plus if you play long enough you can easily unlock other gods.

Smite is one of the most popular MOBAs today thanks to its great idea with polished maps, detailed gods and superb gameplay.

41. Street Fighter 5

Street Fighter V brings a set of 16 characters, both new and old, each with different fighting styles and identities to this sequel running on the Unreal Engine 4.

This is the fifth main numbered installment in the competitive fighting series published by Capcom and co-developed with Dimps, released in February 2016. Just like the older games, the game features a side-scrolling fighting gameplay system. A new feature called the “V-Gauge” comes in play, filling up while you get hit and it also adds three new skills. The games launch included 16 characters, with 4 new ones and there’s probably more to come in the future.

Every character can use three V-abilities: V-Skills, V-Reversals and V-Triggers. They only require simple combinations to pull off, but using them at the right time in a battle is what requires thinking and reflex.

These V-abilities were added to make each fight much more intense and alive. You probably won’t see the clock run out thanks to these new features that improve the gameplay and ensure each match is different and fun.

Street Fighter V is a beautiful game full of action and exciting moments, with much more improved, balanced and polished game mechanics.

42. Elite: Dangerous

Elite: Dangerous is an open-world space simulation set in the far future, in the year 3302. Your goal is to reach the status of “Elite”. You start off with a starship and some credits at the lowest ranks and climb up by fighting, trading or exploring. Will you be peaceful and just do trading and mining, or do you want to risk your life and play as a space pirate or assassin?

So many places to go, so many things to see.

Explore the 400-billion star systems by yourself in Solo mode or with tons of players in Open Play. Stumble upon various encounters in which you might meet your new allies, or your new enemies. Each decision players make can affect the whole galaxy.

This is the first game in the series to feature such a connected multiplayer experience. As more updates come along, the game keeps getting packed with more content giving you even more ways to play the fourth game in the series.

43. Star Citizen

Star Citizen is the ultimate space game putting you in an incredible sci-fi universe filled with players. What role will you take is up to you.  Will you be a trader, a mercenary, a space pirate? It’s entirely up to you.

This is an upcoming space simulation MMO for PC and Linux, and will include two main parts: first-person space combat, mining, exploration and trading with first-person shooter features in a massive persistent multiplayer universe and private servers, and even a big single-player and co-op campaign called Squadron 42.

The developers are vowing to bring the best space MMO game by putting large groups of friends to control and maneuver huge highly detailed ships.

They have received a huge amount of money thanks to the crowd funding campaigns on Kickstarter and the Roberts Space Industries website.  It funded over $2 million on Kickstarter and continues to receive funds on the Roberts Space Industries website which has raised over a whopping $113 million, setting a world record for a crowd funded game.

Star Citizen offers such an amazing, beautiful, highly-detailed galaxy full of life.

The game features a massive universe that will let you and your friends have tons and tons of amazing journeys. Play as a space pirate, a merchant, a bounty hunter, a smuggler, or an enlisted pilot. With the huge sandbox already enough to keep you busy, the game will even have a complex and rich lore that players can spend uncovering whenever they want.

Get ready to experience the most beautiful space MMO ever, featuring intense space battles and stunning visuals.

When is the game coming out?

No one knows. It is currently in alpha and has been in development for a long time. Let’s hope all that work will pay off in the end and deliver us the most immersive MMO we will ever see.

44. Eve Online

Some background story on Eve Online: 21,000 years in the future, humanity has used up most of Earth’s resources and started to colonize the rest of the Milky Way. All the expansive colonization brought back the war for resources, just like it was on Earth. But, a wormhole has been discovered that leads to a whole new galaxy called “New Eden”.

Tons of colonies were established and the wormhole got stabilized by a giant gateway called “EVE”. Unfortunately, something surprising happened; the wormhole collapsed, and destroyed the gate.

The colonies of New Eden have been left to starve. Millennia passed and the descendants of the colonists have been managing to rebuild societies, but the history of where humanity actually came from, has been lost.

EVE Online is an MMO full of life, filled with players fighting, trading and exploring all over the beautiful universe this game offers.

The game has some huge, amazing space battles.

There is a whole array of in-game professions and activities to do, including things like mining, manufacturing, trading, exploring or participating in huge wars and so on. A character advancement system allows you to train your skills passively in real time, even when you’re not logged into the game. You can take control of various customizable ships and go through a beautiful galaxy of 7,800 star systems.

EVE Online is like real life. It released back in 2003 and it still continues to have amazing content. It’s a game filled with endless experiences, a game that you can play for a very long time. There are just so many things to do that it requires so much of your time. It truly is a huge and immersive experience.

45. Mortal Kombat X

Mortal Kombat is known for a lot of things, mainly for the amount of blood and various bone breaking animations. But despite how violent it is, it is a game with lots of depth and superb gameplay.

Mortal Kombat X is the tenth main installment in the Mortal Kombat franchise, developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It is a fighting game where two players fight against each other in a variety of ways, such as using special moves, Brutalities and the disgusting, horrific Fatalities.

You can choose from a variety of characters, each designed for different kinds of strategies and playing styles. Players can play in a persistent online contest where each win helps in the worldwide battle for dominance.

There’s also a really cool single-player story where players are introduced to the game’s most prolific characters, such as Scorpion and Sub-Zero, while also showing some new fighters that represent the forces of good and evil. All the beloved characters are back with eight completely new characters to play as.

The game keeps the energy meter first seen in the previous game which lets you do moves such as “X-Ray” which show you how the bones in the characters body are breaking as well as let you closely hear the gruesome sounds of the breaking bones.

This is the best Mortal Kombat game ever. With many new features, deep gameplay and stunning bone-crunching visuals, Mortal Kombat X is one of the best fighting games ever. It’s definitely the most violent game ever, that’s for sure. Just look at all those Fatalities and X-Rays, yikes.
