11 Good PC Games on Steam (2015)

The Sith Lords are on the hunt.

Games, games everywhere!

Steam hosts countless noteworthy titles from all of different kinds of genres but here are 11 specific games that you might like to try out.

1. Tales from the Borderlands

Keeping cool 24/7.

Tales from the Borderlands is an ongoing episodic set consisting of five episodes. Gameplay is done in the same way as previous Telltale Games have been – so most of the time the player will be exploring the environments and speaking to NPC characters; however there are shooter elements to mix up the pacing.

If you’re familiar with any other of Telltale’s Games, then you already know what to expect in terms of gameplay. This makes Tales a unique entry to the Borderlands series and one you might be interested in checking out.

2. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords

The light confronts the dark.

A little over ten years after its original release in early 2005, The Sith Lords received an update which was an amazing and big surprise for fans of the title. The update included several Steam achievements, the restored content mod on the workshop, and technical additions such as Force Speed effects and higher resolutions for widescreen computers.

3. Grandia II: Anniversary Edition

The eyes see all.

Originally released on the Dreamcast in late 2000 Grandia II was one of the more popular titles for the console and fifteen years after its original launch the game received an anniversary update by Steam.

The anniversary edition includes improved visuals, a new difficulty, achievements, and Steam trading cards, and among other technical additions.

4. ZanZarah: The Hidden Portal

A battle between good and evil.

The Hidden Portal was originally released in 2002 by Funatics Development and re-released by Steam in 2015. The game is an action-adventure title in which you explore a detailed fantasy setting and duel various enemies as you explore the strange and fantastic world.

5. Calvino Noir

Don’t worry; it rains like this every day.

Calvino Noir is a stylized stealth game set in the Europe 1930s and inspired by dark cyberpunk settings such as Blade Runner and Deus Ex. As in any noir tale you assume the role of morally imbalanced protagonists who are seeking to try to make the world a better place – and by extension, themselves.

The journey is going to be dark and bleak – but with hard work and determination you just might be able to bring a small glimmer of light to a place that’s completely pitch black.

6. Edna & Harvey: The Breakout

She’s not insane, she just hates you.

The Breakout is a fun, wacky adventure where you take control of the two title protagonists as you guide in their escape from the insane asylum. However, Edna has no memory of what happened before but as the adventure goes on she slowly regains pieces of her past. But with the warden on her the mission to escape may get a bit harder.

7. A Golden Wake

Travel back to a simpler time.

In A Golden Wake we go back to the roaring ‘20s and guide Alfie Banks to become a big time real estate agent. However, events with the mob and the great depression’s early beginnings may cause some trouble for Alfie. The gameplay and graphics is based on old school adventure titles and at first I actually thought it was an early ‘90s adventure game.

8. Primordia

Your heart shines brightly.

Set in a post-apocalypse future, Primordia features you taking the role of a robot named Horatio Nullbuilt who studies the Book of Man and spending time with his companion, Crispin. In this grim future humanity has all but wiped itself out and its most important legacy is the Book of Man.

The game is played as a point-and-click adventure with various endings depending on the choices you make during the journey.

9. Blackwell Epiphany

The cathedral glooms in the winter night.

The spirits of the deceased still echo and remain restless in the fifth and final installment of the Blackwell series. In the series finale you again assume the role of Rosangela Blackwell and her (undead) partner looking to help trapped souls transfer to the afterlife.

The final installment is a beautifully atmospheric piece with the contrast between the gloomy scenery and the chilly winter nights. The Epiphany overall is a satisfying finale and a recommended title for those who never heard of the Blackwell series.

10. Resident Evil: Revelations 2

Back with more evil and more horror.

The sequel to the hit original continues the co-op horror gameplay, now with two different protagonists. Like the first Revelations, the second continues with the balanced mix of horror and action – which is perhaps the greatest strength about the title. Revelations 2 features the long awaited return of Claire Redfield and Barry Burton – two characters who haven’t been featured in a Resident Evil title for a good long while now.

Like the original, Revelations 2 is divided into a few episodes – and an improved Robust mode. If you prefer the more horror approach as earlier Resident Evil titles, then Revelations 2 would be a good title to check out.

11. Sanitarium

Look into the eye of insanity.

After coming close to death in a car accident, Max awakens inside an unnatural looking hospital housing many violent and insane inmates. As the adventure begins you must explore the environment and interact with different personalities as you go on your quest to help Max regain his memories and escape from the otherworldly horrors.
