Death's Gambit Story

Even the Game Character is ready to jump from the tension, as he eagerly awaits the release of the game and the start of his journey

Not much is known about the storyline of Death's Gambit but some information has been revealed. Death's Gambit takes place in the world of Leydia, where a sinister source has brought immortality to the land and has broken the balance of nature. The game's main protagonist goes on a quest to discover the secrets behind the source of immortality that plagues the land, under the service of Death itself, and fights many Immortal monsters along the way. The protagonist of the game also meets many companions, mortals and immortals alike, that help or hinder his journey in such a way that he does not know what is what (as in whether the companion is mortal or immortal) or who he can trust...

Death's Gambit  Release Date

After three years of waiting, White Rabbit has finally confirmed that Death's Gambit is to be released sometime in 2018!

"Hey just wanted to post an update since we have been quite silent the past few months. We have been working very hard to finish the game up. We have a lot of announcements piled up but we are waiting until we are closer to release to start the hype train.

We are currently at the start of our bug fixing phase. Most of the game is complete except some optional content. Thanks for waiting for us. We promise the wait is worth it!"

-Jean Canellas

Even Steam Database has indirectly confirmed the release of Death's Gambit in 2018, though no specific details have been posted on their site.

Death's Gambit  Gameplay

Death's Gambit is a single player 2D action RPG where one must learn how to use strategy and tactics to defeat enemies. Its gameplay has been said to be like Dark Souls and its animation is like Castlevania. Playing the game seems like it would take some practice, but the actual game mechanics are quite simple: select a weapon, aim, and fire or slash. Multiple weapons are offered, permitting close and long-range combat as well as a sturdy defense. Healing items called 'phoenix feathers', that can only be recovered at certain stations in the game or by revisiting the site of a previous death, are used to recover health throughout the game and are limited in power. This increases the difficulty of the game as one only receives three eathers at any one point in time and a feather will be lost upon dying. Stamina is used when attacking or defending and consequences are suffered if one 'overdraws' their attack or defense past their stamina's limits, though the regeneration of the stamina is swift and thus allows for lots of combat if one is careful to watch the stamina gauge. Experience, in the form of Hope, is earned in the game by defeating enemies and allows for one to improve items, increase stats, or add to one's abilities. Most items are earned either by defeating enemies or as a reward for getting to 'checkpoints', that possess treasure chests, without having lost any 'phoenix feathers'.

The goal of the game is a bit unclear in some parts, but it is clear that the main protagonist serves Death by destroying various immortal enemies on his journey, and that he seeks to stem the wanton granting of immortality.

Dang! After seeing such majesty, I too almost wish that Death was my boss!
